Position Summary Information

Basic Function

Provide primary support for the processing of campus-based student loans. Also perform other accounting functions for Accounting Office, as well as providing support for collecting on delinquent student accounts.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Process all documentation for Perkins Loan program and institutional loan programs.

• Maintain all student loan files and promissory note files for Perkins Loan Program and institutional loan programs.

• Process monthly information from loan processor and student financial services office of the College.

• Answer questions and resolve issues from students/loan processor/collection agencies regarding all student loans issues.

• Counsel students regarding consolidation, deferments, cancellations, and other issues as needed.

• Process student loan exit packages for withdrawals and graduates.

• Work with Collection Agencies on defaulted accounts.

• Fill out and submit consolidation paperwork requested for Perkins loans for loan holders.

• Work with Director of Student Accounts Billing to collect on delinquent accounts from prior students.

• Assist with accounts payable function as needed.

• Prepare operating bank account reconciliation or deliver daily deposits to bank.

• Prepare selected monthly journal entries.

• Assist with annual FISAP preparation.

• Other tasks as may be assigned by the Associate Controller.

Minimum Qualifications

Prefer three years experience with student accounts or student loans. Experience working with a student loan processor helpful (ECSI/Heartland preferred). Must have experience with automated accounting system (Banner preferred) and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Good communication, excellent customer service, and interpersonal skills are essential as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
