Position Summary

Provide technology support to your fellow students, through individual appointments and drop-in hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:
● Meet one-on-one with students who need help using technology and software for classes.
● Hold drop-in hours and staff the STARS (Students, Technology, and Research Support) desk in Hege Library to answer quick questions about technology and software.
● Learn new softwares and technologies through on-the-job training opportunities.
● Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Special Skills Required

You must have demonstrable skills in one or more of the following technology/software areas:
● Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, and Excel)
● Google Apps (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drawings, Forms…)
● Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or other Adobe Creative Suite products
● database concepts
● video editing
● web development/web design
● other softwares and technologies, on a case-by-case basis.
You must also have a recommendation from a professor, a supervisor, or someone else who can attest to tech proficiency, and you must participate in tutor training.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following skills:
● Proficiency in troubleshooting computing issues on Mac and/or PC
● An aptitude for teaching others
● Willingness to learn new skills
● Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
