Position Summary

Assist in craft positions in the Theatre Studies scene shop or costume shop depending on the skill set and previous experience of the applicant.

Scene shop assignments involve building scenic elements for productions and might include working in carpentry, electrics, sound, lights or rigging,

Costume shop assignments involve preparing and maintaining costumes for productions and will include hand and machine sewing. Other responsibilities might involve teaching sewing skills to others; shopping; finding and returning rentals; laundry and ironing; and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the costume shop.

All craft artisans in both shops may also be assigned work in the properties department.

Qualifications/Special Skills Required

Applicants should have some experience or skills in their areas of interest. A driver’s license is an asset for all positions.

Physical Requirements

Scene shop positions require sufficient physical strength to lift 25 pounds or more.
