Position Summary

The Level I Desk Assistant provides first point of contact for all technical and research-related support issues at a college-wide level. The Level I Desk Assistant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, and technical support on all core supported products (MS Office, Google Apps, Banner Web, Canvas, wireless connections). The Level I Desk Assistant will answer phone calls at the desk and assist patrons with a variety of technology and library related questions. Assistants will also help support events and classes in the various library spaces, and regularly audit library technology and spaces.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide effective support from the start of interaction to completion by applying known solutions to problems, or escalating question to Level II Support.
- Log all interactions (calls and walk-ins) in the interaction tracking system.
- Route issues to appropriate support level or tier.
- Provide just in time assistance to customers in the any of the library computer labs, conference rooms, and/or classrooms.
- Maintain paper inventory, and fill all paper/toner in networked printers throughout the library.
- Set up library events for academic and/or staff events as designated.
- Conduct regular audits of library technology and spaces to ensure things are in proper working order.
- Assist students with basic research and technology tasks.

Qualifications/Special Skills Required

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Any related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient in computer skills – Email, MSOffice, Google Apps
Desired – Mac and PC, Banner Web, basic networking knowledge

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

- Be able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Be able to promptly respond to the customer either face to face or over the phone.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
- Experience with hardware and software issues.
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.

On-the-job training will be provided.

Physical Requirements

Perform light lifting up to 25lbs.
